The real Paris: Diaries book series

I love Paris but something has always irritated me: the contrast between the Paris I see in the media and the one I see in real life since my childhood. The disparity is so great that some tourists develop the Paris syndrome: a cluster of psychiatric symptoms as explained by this wiki page.

To the exception of a privileged minority the glamour Paris is nothing but a mirage for most Parisians and tourists. The real Paris can be nice, sometimes, but I often find it to have a rather sad atmosphere.

I feel things have gotten worse over time… I have been a Parisian for over 30 years, I don’t remember the city being that dirty. When I was a kid in the ’90s, there was not that much misery and human distress. The only thing I feel hasn’t changed is that Parisians are generally not very nice.

The real Paris: Diaries book series is an art project where the real Paris, my feelings, and my point of view as a longtime Parisian blend into monochrome photographs. Finally, a photography book about Paris, the way it is, instead of the widespread clichés! The purpose isn’t about being pessimistic, it’s about being faithful to the essence of the city I have lived in for most of my life.

The first volume, The real Paris: Diary N°1 is available in limited quantities.
